OUR MEMBERS VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND TALENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR!

Left to right: Doreen Rossi, Dana MacCoy, Claudette Laroche, Julie Smith, Amy Troy, Jason Nadeau, Rosanne Beaurivage

Greetings to the members of the AMTA-NH Chapter.  At our spring meeting I had the distinct pleasure of presenting some of our volunteers with awards to distinguish their time, efforts and their unselfish giving to our chapter and their communities.  This was my first year as the chapters Awards Chair and I must say, it was truly a pleasure to recognize the following individuals.

Claudette Laroche was honored with Retiring Board Member.  She has been active on various committees and has held several board positions over the past 16 years; most recently as our Immediate Past President.  With this last election she is now free to increase her trips with the Flying Doctors in which she has become active.  Good luck to Claudette in her future endeavors.

Our Outstanding Committee Award went to a dedicated group of people, our Membership Committee.  The membership committee members have come together to make sure they call every one of our members throughout the year. They work together to visit many of our NH massage schools for student recruitment.  They have also created a power point presentation to bring on those visits.  This presentation was also looked at by National and combined with the National presentation to massage schools.  Kudos to the following folks for their hard work and continued efforts: Jason Nadeau, Julie Smith, Darlene Nadeau, Cindy Collins, Rosanne Beaurivage, Dana MacCoy, Claudette Laroche, Jan Wheeler and Jeanie Gorski.

Our Outstanding Committee Chair this year was easy to choose: congratulations to Jan Wheeler.  She is the one who coordinates all the school visits and the phone calls. She is frequently on the phone to National getting reports and sharing information.  We truly are grateful for her dedication in this position.  Thank you, Jan.

Amy Eldridge Troy received our Humanitarian Award.  This member has been noted to give of herself tirelessly.  She has appeared or been involved with National Massage Therapy Awareness Week for the past several years.  She takes the time to participate with us out at various conferences; and she frequently helps out her local food pantry with food drives.  She has her business participate in local races and was featured in our state when she helped out at the Extreme Home Makeover event.  She is constantly looking for ways to give back. Her personal goal is to educate the public on how massage is an investment in self.  Setting a goal like this, benefits all of us.

Joe Frazer was the recipient of our Meritorious Award.  The Meritorious award is the highest award available for a chapter to bestow on a volunteer member. This year, the award is given to a member who has given much to our chapter in the past 4 years.  He has always been available to our NH board of Directors by offering the school in which he is director as a meeting place for our BOD meetings as well as our Chapter Meetings.  His offering of space has saved our chapter hundreds of dollars over the years.  He is always willing to help out when we need a spare set of hands.  He has filled in for hospitality on more than 1 occasion; he has also helped out during our Chapter Meetings with raffles; he makes sure the room is set up for our class and has even gone above and beyond by finagling noise barriers for members’ comfort. My personal favorite, he always made sure there was a podium here during our meeting.  Most recently Joe has stepped up as our NH delegate over the past 2 years.  His attention to detail (along with Leo Beaudry) and being prepared for the House of Delegates saved a position statement, which might have been tossed out due to clerical errors.  He has often stated that he wishes he had more time to be more involved.  The Board of Directors is grateful for what he has stepped up to do, which is quite a bit in our eyes.

I look forward to next year’s awards presentation and hope to recognize even more of our caring and giving volunteers.  If you know of a therapist who is going above and beyond the call of duty, please let me know.  I would love to honor them in 2011!
